Softball rules
• 10 players per team, 9 players are okay
• If a team only has 8 players because of illnesses/players absent then the team can still play but the #9 batting order is an automatic out
• You can have 11 batters
• Substitutions are allowed but the sub must bat in the spot of the player they came in for
• Base runners may take a lead after the pitcher releases the ball
• The catcher may throw to the base to catch a leading runner but the runner may advance a base if there is an errant throw. If the ball beats the runner to the base, the runner is out.
• Batters trying to beat out a throw to first base must step on the outside base
• Runners cannot overrun 2nd or 3rd bases
• Runner must slide on a close play
• Remind infielders to watch out for runners on extra base hits
• If one team has a 15 run lead after the 5th inning then the game will be over
• In the event of rain during a game, the game will count if both team have made it through the 4th inning
• No bunting
• Pitcher must start with both feet on the mound
• No windmills or windups before the pitch, ball must be seen at all times (not in glove before the pitch) and pitcher can't put ball behind his/her back
• No fake tags
• In the event of a tie after the 7th inning, the games will continue until on of the following occurs:
♣ Permits expire
♣ Next teams are ready to start
♣ Winner by end of the 9th inning
Equipment
• Both teams bring first aid kits
• Home team brings bases or discuss beforehand between schools
• Two bases (preferably one white and one orange) at first base
• Catcher's gear should be shin guards, helmet mask with throat protector and body protector
• One new game ball from each team. Should use Clincher Debeer ball.
• The mound is thirty-eight feet from home base
